What We Do

Founded in 2017 by a group of dedicated Milton Keynes citizens, The Bus Shelter MK initially operated from a converted double-decker bus in Campbell Park, which opened in 2018 and was replaced during Covid.

Today, we’ve expanded our services and operate from George House, a facility in Stantonbury with nine self-contained rooms where our guests can recover and regain their independence. Our support services are managed by compassionate and qualified staff who are dedicated to ensuring that each person receives the assistance they need at every step along their path to independence.

We also operate three houses in Milton Keynes where those who are ready take the next step on their journey. These move on homes accommodate 12 people in total, allowing guests to live more independently whilst still receiving support from our experienced team.

From the move on homes, we help guests to secure their own accommodation and ensure they are prepared for a return to full independence and the transition to a secure future.

For understandable reasons it is sometimes assumed The Bus Shelter MK charity works out of the Old Bus Station building in Elder Square. That building is used by charity Unity MK and Milton Keynes City Council for the delivery of some homeless services, but The Bus Shelter MK has never been based there.
